Mitel SX-2000L: Force Formatting Hard Disk Drives

The Fujitsu HDDs that Mitel currently ships as replacement units are NOT compatible with the Lightware 40 (Q.40.1.x) software commonly used. There is an undocumented way to format the older Quantum drives when they are not recognized by the SX-2000.

The command is: VOL FORMAT DISK SYSUSER LOAD $3500 REDUN $4C00 SCRATCH FORCE

The system will return a message that Force formatting should be done only as a last resort. Continue? Enter YES.

This formatting process will take about 15 minutes.

• Do a DATA SAVE to RSD before starting any of the above procedures.
• HDD Option Jumper (shunt) Positions: FORCE SE, NO WIDE. No other positions should have shunts.

Load the operating system software from the RSD and restore the database in accordance with the Mitel SX-2000L/GL Technician’s Handbook.
