Nortel IP Set
Diagnostics and Soft Reboot
How can you reboot/reset an i2002/i2004 without unplugging it?... **RENEW [MAC] ##
You can find the [MAC] address on the label on the back of the set.
It's in HEX: press 2 for A, B or C, and press 3 for D, E, or F.
Diagnostics
All diagnostic functions begin with the 'lead sequence':
MUTE | ► | UP | ► | DOWN | ► | UP | ► | DOWN | ► | UP | ► | MUTE | .... |
---|
Followed immediately by one of the following sequences:
0 - Display Firmware hard version 1 - RAM check 2 - DTIC check 3 - EEPROM check 4 - Xmt, Rcv, Attenuation levels 5 - TCM loop back test, between i2004 and CE equipment 7 - Display Firmware hard version 8 - TCM BERT test 9 RLS - Reset set/power cycle * 2 - RUDP on/off check. If RUDP is off, power cycle the set (9 RLS) * 0 - Display Firmware soft version * 0 * - Factory reset the phone
To disable DHCP, clear parameters and add them again after swiping the phone.
So, to soft reset the phone:
Press the following keys in sequence:
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 |
MUTE | UP | DOWN | UP | DOWN | UP | MUTE | 9 | RLS |
---|
It's a lot faster than cycling the power 😃
Note that i2001 phones don't have a MUTE key
- they use the # (hash/pound) key instead.
Resetting Phone Configuration
To configure the phone, swipe the 4 function keys (left to right) after seeing NORTEL/AVAYA on power up to enter configuration. If prompted for a password, enter color*set (26567*738 Down).
In some cases, the phone will not allow you to change the configuration upon swiping the four softkeys. When swiping the keys, change the first two prompts to 0 and press OK. This will allow you to rebuild the phone for static IP addresses.
