Norstar NAM - FAQ

Enter the Administration access code:

If asked for a password enter the same: 2 3 6 4 6

To exit programming, just press the release button: Rls

Note: Programming is much easier using the M7310 set.

With Feature 983.

The password consists of two parts: the system co-ordinators mailbox number (which depends on the DN length) and the personal password. Use the following table to determin your default password:

The serial number is checked as follows:

1. Feature 915 (If F915 does not give a Password prompt, try feature codes from F910 to F949)
2. Password - enter 2223772# (ACCESS2)
3. ACCESS Server – press ADMIN
4. A. Prt queue mgr – press NEXT 8 times
5. I. Serial Number – press SHOW
6. S#: XXXXXXXX – record the serial number and press OK
   

Every time a voicemail cabinet is added or changed, the F915 number increments. For example, if your voicemail cabinet goes bad and you replace it, the feature code for the replacement unit becomes 916.

So, if F915 does not give a "Password" prompt, try feature codes from F910 to F949 until you do get a "Password" prompt!

One way to check to see what the feature code might be: Feature ** xftest, Password: 266344

This procedure will ERASE ALL PROGRAMING!

Unplug power, plug back in and let it come back up, then do a Feature ** STARTUP
P/W is default config password.

Note: Must be done within a few minutes of powering up.

With Feature 983, enter the System Co-ordinators Mailbox number and password, then press OK.

1. Press MBOX
2. Press ADD
3. Enter the mailbox number, press OK
4. Enter the DN (usually same as mailbox number)
5. Enter a Class of Service, press OK
6. Follow remaining prompts...

The user MUST INITIALISE their mailbox before it will accept messages.

If the mailbox user has forgotten their password:

1. Press Feature 983
2. Press MBOX
3. Press CHNG
4. Enter the mailbox number...
5. Press RESET

The password is reset to 0000 (four zero's), and must be changed by the user at their next logon.

It can be changed in programming or by using a feature code:

The default System Co-ordinator password is 23646 (ADMIN).

With Feature 983, enter the System Co-ordinators Mailbox number and password, then press OK.

1. Press MBOX
2. Press DEL
3. Enter the mailbox number to be deleted.
4. Press DEL
5. Press DEL to delete additional mailbox's, or press RLS to end this programing session.

IMPORTANT!
The NAM (Norstar Applications Module) is a PC and uses the OS2/Warp operating system, which is similar to Windows. When it is necessary to power off the NAM, DO NOT just pull the power cord. You must perform a shutdown procedure as follows:

1. Feature 915 (If F915 does not give a Password prompt, try feature codes from F910 to F949)
2. Password - enter 2223772# (ACCESS2)
3. ACCESS Server - press NEXT
4. System shutdown - press SHOW
5. Shutdown type - press GRACE
6. Shutdown graceful - press YES

Wait about 30 seconds until you hear a series of tones with descending pitch. It's now OK to pull the NAM's power cord.
