CS1000 Circuit cards
When Meridian 1 systems are upgraded to run Avaya CS 1000 Release 7.0 software and configured to include a Signaling Server, they become Communication Server 1000 systems. The following Meridian 1 systems can be upgraded to a Communication Server 1000 system.

Note: A CS 1000M has a network shelf, whereas a CS 1000E does not.
Media Gateways replace Intelligent Peripheral Equipment (IPE) shelves.
The following systems are referred to generically as Media Gateways:
- MG 1000E chassis (NTDK91) and Expander chassis (NTDK92) - legacy hardware
- MG 1000E chassis (NTDU14) and Expander chassis (NTDU15)
- MG 1000E cabinet (NTAK11) - legacy hardware
- MG 1010 chassis (NTC310)

| NT5D33, NT5D34 | Lineside E1 Interface cards | Intelligent 30-channel digital line card that is used to connect the switch to E1-compatible terminal equipment on the lineside. It emulates an analog line card to the system software. This card occupies two card slots in the main or expansion cabinets. |
| NT5D60/80/81 | CLASS Modem card (XCMC) | Supports the Custom Local Area Signaling Services (CLASS) feature. It receives Calling Number and Calling Name Delivery (CND) data and time/date data from the Avaya CS 1000E, CS 1000M, and Meridian 1, and transmits it to an Analog line port. CLASS Modem cards are housed in NT8D37 IPE modules. |

| NTDK16 | Digital Line card | A 48 port card supported only in the Chassis system. It is functionally equivalent to three NT8D02s, and configured as cards 4, 5, and 6 in the main chassis. Can only be installed in slot 4 of the main. |
| NT8D09 | Analog Message Waiting Line card | Provides talk battery and signaling for up to 16 regular 2-wire common battery analog (500/2500-type) telephones, with the Message Waiting lamp feature. Install in any IPE slot. |
| NT8D14 | Universal Trunk card | A replacement for the NT8D14BB card which interfaces eight analog trunk lines to the system. Install this card in any IPE slot. |

| NTAG26 | XMFR card | An Extended Multi-frequency receiver card is used to receive MF digit information. Connections are made between a PBX and a central office. The XMFR card can only operate in systems using μ-law companding. Install this card in any IPE slot. |
| NTAK02 | SDI/DCH card | Provides up to four serial I/O ports. Ports 1 and 3 are configured as DCH. Ports 0 and 2 are configured as SDI (not supported). Supported in the Media Gateway (slots 1 to 4) only for the ISDN Signaling Link (ISL) D-channel. |
| NTAK09 | 1.5 Mb DTI/PRI card | Provides 1.5Mb ISDN primary rate interface and digital trunk interface capability.
