Update VM User Info
HOW TO CHANGE USER INFORMATION on an existing Voicemail Account
Note: Once a Cisco Call Manager User account has been created and associated to a Device (Phone) the User can be imported into Cisco Unity to create a voice mailbox account. Any changes made to that Unity Voicemail account should ALWAYS be made in Cisco Call Manager User Accounts FIRST, and then re-synchronized to the existing voicemail account in Unity.
While viewing User information in Cisco Unity, you will see that the user is integrated with Cisco Unified Communications Manager End User. Some fields may be disabled. This is your key that all changes should be made in CUCM, and then synced with Unity!
Problem: I have a new user Jane Doe. I need to update the user information on her extension (eg, 1234), and create a new voicemail box for her.
- Log into Cisco Call Manager, eg: CCMAPP / Password
- Select: USER MANAGEMENT ➤ END USER
- Now FIND User, where: <User ID> - <contains> = [Ext # of the users phone needing change] ➤ FIND
- Click on the User ID Extension Number you want to make changes to.
- Change the users Name Information under the END USERS Config and SAVE
- Next, log into Cisco UNITY, eg: CUCAPP / Password
- Once logged into the Cisco Unity Connection Admin page, select: Users ➤ Sync Users
- Fill in the required search Criteria in all fields:
Find Imported Users In [Name of CALL MANAGER] ➤ Where [Extension] ➤ Contains [1234] ➤ FIND - Find the Extension that you want to change the info on and check the box to the right, then click Sync Selected
Unity will pull the user information from Call Manager on the selected extension, and update the Unity user to match. - Verify that the Display name on the synced user in Cisco Unity has the correct information for the Cisco Unified Auto Attendant Console Operators display to view.
- Next login to the users account to update Password settings and reset the users Password.
