Ethernet Patch Cables

Straight Cable- for Host → Switch (or hub) connections, eg: a 'normal' patch cable.
Crossover Cable- for Host → Host direct connections, eg: TX and RX pairs are 'crossed over'.
T568A or T568B?- it doesn't really matter, but T568B is preferred. Use the same at each end; or it's a crossover!
Gigabit Cables- these utilise all four pairs; therefore a gigabit crossover cable must cross all four pairs as shown.
