Restriction Filter Programming

Quick Links:

Introduction: Programming:

Restriction Filters.

A restriction filter is a set or group of restrictions and overrides that specify the external numbers or feature codes that cannot be dialed from a telephone or on a line. Rather than define individual restrictions and apply them repeatedly to telephones and to lines, restriction filters let you assign them in one step as a single package of dialing sequences that are not permitted.

Once you create the filters, you can assign the restrictions to a telephone (Terminal&Sets programming), to a line (Lines programming), to a particular line on a telephone (Line/Set restrictions), and to remote callers (Remote restrictions), based on the time of day or day of the week.

Notes about restriction filters:

Overrides.

You create a filter by defining the dialing sequences that are denied. There will also be exceptions, numbers that we want the user to be able to dial. These exceptions are called Overrides.

Notes about overrides:

Programming a filter and/or overrides.

  1. Press SHOW and enter the number of the restriction filter you want to program, or press NEXT to move through all of the available filters.
  2. Press SHOW to see the first restriction in a filter. The first four digits of the number are shown in the display. Press SHOW again to see the full number.
  3. Press ADD and the dialpad, then OK to program a restriction for each filter.
  4. Press NEXT when the full restricted number is on the display (it shows DENY and the number is denied) to see any overrides programmed for this restriction.
  5. Press NEXT to see any overrides.
  6. You can press REMOVE to delete a restriction. The overrides will be deleted as weell and the restrictions will renumber to fill the gap.

Programming set restrictions.

The Set restrictions window allows you to assign a restriction filter to a telephone to prevent certain numbers from being dialed from that telephone. You can define a different restriction filter for normal service and for each of the six other schedules (if required).

When you finish programming restriction settings for one telephone, you can copy those settings to other telephones.

To configure set restrictions:

  1. Press Terminals&Sets.
  2. Enter the DN number of the set to be programmed.
  3. Go to Restrictions, Set restrns, Filters.
  4. Use SHOW, CHANGE and the dialpad to enter the number of the restriction filter to be assigned to the set for each schedule. Normal is normal service.

Programming line/set restrictions.

The Line/set restrictions attributes allow you to assign a restriction filter to a specific line for outgoing calls at a specific set. This type of filter replaces any line or set restrictions that might otherwise apply.

The Line/set restrictions restrict the numbers you can dial on a line, but only from that telephone. The same line on another telephone can have different restrictions.

If no Line/set restrictions are defined, the numbers dialed are checked against the set restrictions and the line restrictions, if either of these has been defined. The numbers dialed may be rejected byeither restrriction.

To configure Line/set restrictions:

  1. Press Terminals&Sets.
  2. Enter the DN number of the set to be programmed.
  3. Go to Restrictions, Line/set restrns.
  4. Use SHOW, CHANGE and the dialpad to enter the number of the restriction filter to be assigned as the line/set restriction for each schedule. Normal is normal service.

Programming Line restrictions.

The Line restrictions attribute allow you to specify th efilter applied to a specific line to restrict dial out numbers. When a remote user places an external call on a line, any filters used with the line will still apply.

To program Line restrictions:

  1. In Lines programming, enter the number of the line to be programmed.
  2. Enter Restrictions.
  3. Use SHOW, CHANGE and the dialpad to enter the number of the restriction filter to be assigned as the line restriction for each schedule. Normal is normal service.

Programming Remote restrictions.

Specify the restriction filter for the line that remote callers use to call in to the Nostar system. Remote restriction restricts the numbers that can be dialed on an incoming autoanswer line. If a remote user then selects a line to place an external call, any filter used with the line still appies.

To program Remote restrictions:

  1. In Lines programming, enter the number of the line to be programmed.
  2. Enter Restrictions.
  3. Enter Remote restrns.
  4. Use SHOW, CHANGE and the dialpad to program the Remote restrictions for the schedule you wish to configure.
